APRIL 30, 2006

FAITH CHURCH FELLOWSHIP HALL

6pm – 9pm

FREE, ALL INVITED, NURSERY PROVIDED (ages 1-5 yrs.).

Few musicians can lay claim to the sort of respect and accolades given to Phil Keaggy, who has been called one of the world’s best fingerstyle and all-around guitarists.

His reputation as a master musician began with the legendary late 60’s band Glass Harp, who toured with Yes, Iron Maiden, Traffic and Chicago in the early 70’s and then throughout his extensive solo work. Rock icon Ted Nugent was quoted as saying, “(Phil) could have saved the world with his guitar.”

Acoustic Guitar Magazine called him “One of the best guitar players you may have never heard.” He has recorded or contributed to over 100 albums and continues to write, record and tour throughout the world.

Phil will be performing solo acoustic (but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t sound like a band – due to his mastery and some technical wizardry) If you love guitar music and great songwriting, this will be an evening to remember.

Please visit www.philkeaggy.com for more information about Phil and how you can purchase his cds and videos.

APRIL 8, 2006: Thanks to all who braved the weather and showed up to spruce up the outside of the church building.

It was gloomy and cold outside but that had NO EFFECT on those hearty souls that showed this morning.

We had a very good turn out and got several things done too!!

First- thanks to those that prepared the delicious food items- Ann was sick yet brought by some wonderful breakfast burritos!! We also had some breakfast BLTs and wonderful muffins.

Lots of general weeding was done, a new tree (right side landscaping as you enter the main doors) was planted. (if you notice how tall that new tree is and can envision it being transported in a sedan with a sun-roof- you will be smiling just as much as ALL the folks who saw it coming down Old Hickory Blvd!!!)

Several bushes were taken out in the area by the kitchen door and pine straw “mulch” was put down.

The steeple and the spot lights for the steeple got a good washing by those who are not afraid of heights- I believe that those Purswell kids probably like roller coasters too.

I did see Pastor Jerry digging around behind the main sign as you drive in —so I think we might see something coming up in that area again this year.

The French drain got a bit of a clean up too. Some of the vegetation was pulled up- Round Up sprayed, and some new pea gravel put down. Round Up was also sprayed in other needed areas. One railroad tie was replaced. If you have any doubt about how well those rail road ties are anchored down- see George Garden or Gene Bratt as they are now experts in pulling out and pounding in 4 foot long pieces of re-bar!

The “island” area was given some attention as well with some weeding a vinka ( Laura P told me that is what it is called but she didn’t spell it for me) being planted as ground cover.

I would like to note that Jeff West came by with his crew this week to get the lawn mowed and take care of a few things ( as he does regularly!!) – we appreciate his service.

The building/facilities committee wants to THANK all who were able to serve- much time was spent, many people provided needed supplies and moral support is always appreciated- I KNOW that there were lots of prayers for good weather too.

We have a wonderful facility that is being used by God in our community in so many different ways- what an opportunity and privilege to serve.

Invite your friends to a Passover Seder meal at Faith Church

Good Friday, April 14, 6:30 p.m. at Faith Church

Join us as we explore the roots of the Lord’s Supper by celebrating a Passover Seder. Children and friends are welcome at this festive and traditional family meal, complete with a service that recalls God’s great deliverance of his people. If you’ve never been to a Seder before, you’re in for a treat! It’s fun, educational, and a great way to deepen our understanding of the Lord’s Supper.

PLEASE NOTE:

* We will be serving wine with this meal, Non-alcoholic alternatives will be available for children and adults who prefer not to drink.

* Communion, led by Pastor Jerry and using the unleavened bread and wine, will also be part of the evening. Please make sure your children and guests understand this.

* With the meal and the service, the evening might last from 6:30 to 8:30.

* Every family will be asked to bring a side dish. Once we know how many are coming, you will be provided a simple recipe for a traditional Passover dish. (Some do not require cooking!)

* We will be taking up a love offering to pay for the main dish, the wine and the unleavened bread.

* We need to know who’s coming, so you must sign up by Sunday, April 9th. There is a sign-up sheet in the church lobby, or you can contact Mike Purswell at 370-8397. His e-mail is hmstyle@comcast.net.

If you’re curious – the traditional menu will include a green salad, your choice of entrée (roast lamb or turkey breast), seasoned mashed potatoes, green beans, unleavened bread (matzoh) and red wine or tea. Dessert will be ice cream with either orange-chocolate chip cookies or apple cake.
